Library workers at the Baltimore County Public Library who are members of IAM Local 4538 have regained their part-time jobs after a collective effort. The union emphasized that having a contract provided them with protection and a voice, enabling them to advocate for themselves.
According to the union, “It’s protection. It’s a voice. It’s what gave them the power to fight and successfully get their jobs back.” The workers organized, spoke up, and supported each other in order to enforce their contract rights.
The outcome highlights how collective action can help employees defend their jobs and secure respect in the workplace. The union stated, “This victory is a reminder to working people everywhere: when workers stand together, they can defend their livelihoods, protect their futures, and win the dignity and respect they deserve.”
