Restaurateur Barton G. Weiss has sold his waterfront mansion on Miami Beach’s Sunset Island II for $29.3 million, following a significant price reduction from its original listing. The property at 1535 West 27th Street was initially listed for $39.5 million in March before the price was dropped to $34.5 million in April, according to Zillow.
Records indicate that the buyer is an LLC managed by David Moradi, CEO of accessibility software company AudioEye and founder of Sero Capital, a private investment firm based in Miami.
The sale was brokered by Jill and Danny Hertzberg with the Jills Zeder Group at Coldwell Banker Realty, representing the seller, while Marko Gojanovic and Reid Heidenry with One Sotheby’s International Realty represented the buyer.
Weiss is recognized for his Barton G. restaurants located in Miami and Los Angeles. His background also includes work as a professional ice skater, costume designer, and events producer. Weiss purchased the property in 1994 for $1 million and constructed the main house—spanning 12,200 square feet—in 2009. The residence features nine bedrooms, nine bathrooms, one half-bathroom, a pool, guest house, 100 feet of waterfrontage, and a dock.
Luxury home sales in Miami Beach have seen notable price reductions as market conditions slow growth at higher price points. Recent activity on Sunset Islands includes a spec home going under contract with an asking price of $18 million last week; architect Chad Oppenheim securing a buyer for his waterfront mansion listed at $27 million in November; and investor Edmond Harbour purchasing a neighboring teardown for $34 million in October—bringing his total investment on the islands to $60.5 million.
