Charlie Jacobs, owner of the Boston Bruins, has purchased a $10 million home in Wellington, Florida. The property was sold by cable magnate John Malone and his wife Leslie Malone. Records indicate that the transaction was completed through CMJ Hurlingham LLC, with Amy Carr of Engel & Völkers Wellington representing the buyer and Cameron Wentworth Scott of Wellington Equestrian Realty handling the listing.

John Malone is known for his role as chairman of Liberty Media and previously served as CEO of Tele-Communications from 1973 to 1996. He has significant holdings in companies such as Formula 1 and the Atlanta Braves through Liberty Media. Forbes estimates his net worth at $11.2 billion. Malone is also recognized as the second largest landowner in North America, with ownership of 2.2 million acres.

Leslie Malone is an equestrian and supporter of the U.S. Olympic Dressage team.

The Malones originally bought the 7,300-square-foot house on Hurlingham Drive for $7.8 million in 2013. Built in 1998 on a nearly one-acre lot, the home features seven bedrooms, five bathrooms, a half-bathroom, and a pool. It is located within Palm Beach Polo & Country Club and borders Cypress Preserve.

The property was listed for $16 million last year.

Charlie Jacobs is part of the Jacobs family behind Delaware North, a company that provides food services at major venues including Wembley Stadium and MetLife Stadium. The family owns the Boston Bruins and operates concessions at TD Garden in Boston.

Forbes places the Jacobs family’s net worth at $5.4 billion. In recent years, Jeremy Jacobs began transferring control of both Delaware North and the Bruins to his children; Charlie Jacobs now serves as CEO for both entities.

Jacobs and his children participate in Wellington’s Winter Equestrian Festival. He also owns another house in Wellington at 11663 Maidstone Drive, purchased for $2.8 million in 2021; this property was listed for sale at $6.8 million earlier this year.

Recent real estate activity in Wellington includes members of the Anheuser-Busch family acquiring a large equestrian facility for $24.5 million last month and billionaire Thomas Kirk Kristiansen purchasing an equestrian compound for $25.5 million earlier this year.

“Records show Charlie Jacobs’ CMJ Hurlingham LLC bought the house at 2982 Hurlingham Drive from John and Leslie Malone. Amy Carr with Engel & Völkers Wellington brought the buyer, and Cameron Wentworth Scott with Wellington Equestrian Realty had the listing.”
