The U.S. Census Bureau will conduct a prerelease webinar on September 4, 2025, to discuss the upcoming release of the 2024 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates. The ACS provides detailed statistics on various aspects of the nation’s population and housing, including language use, education levels, commuting patterns, employment status, mortgage and rent information, income distribution, poverty rates, and health insurance coverage. For many topics it covers—over 40 in total—the ACS is the only source of local estimates.
These one-year estimates will be available under embargo to subscribers starting September 9 at 10 a.m. ET. The data will cover all states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, congressional districts, metropolitan statistical areas, and other regions with populations of at least 65,000. Embargoed access will end on September 11 at 12:01 a.m. ET when public release begins; all datasets are expected to be accessible by 10 a.m. ET that day.
Wire services and distribution outlets are not permitted to share embargoed news or data before the official release time in accordance with the Census Bureau’s embargo policy.
Those interested in embargo access can register through www.census.gov/newsroom/releases/archives/embargoed_releases.
The prerelease webinar scheduled for Thursday, September 4 at 1 p.m. ET will feature Caleb Hopler from the American Community Survey Office and Jewel Jordan from the Public Information Office. The session includes both an audio conference and an online presentation; attendees do not need to call in separately for audio access. Credentialed media and data users may submit questions during or after the event using provided channels.
Registration for this webinar is available at https://www.census.gov/data/academy/webinars/2025/2024-acs-1-year-estimates-prerelease.html.
