The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens will recognize first responders with free admission on September 12. The event, named First Responders Day, is intended to honor the service of law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMT/paramedics.

“All first responders including law enforcement, firefighters, and EMT/paramedics will receive free admission to the Zoo, to say thank you for their service,” according to a statement from the zoo.

During the event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., local agencies will participate by bringing vehicles and equipment for guests to view. Between 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., the Sanford Fire Department and Seminole County Fire Department will display a fire engine and truck while distributing items for children. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office will also be present with sticker badges and special equipment.

Free admission must be obtained at the gate on September 12 with proof of employment; online tickets are not available for this offer. Additional information can be found at https://www.centralfloridazoo.org/event/honoring-first-responders/.

The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens houses more than 350 animals in Sanford, Florida. As a nonprofit organization, it works in conservation efforts and aims to inspire visitors about wildlife.
