The Corcoran Group announced on Mar. 9 that Mercedes Saewitz has been named regional vice president for Florida.
Saewitz, a Miami native with more than 25 years of experience in the real estate industry, will lead Corcoran’s Miami Beach and Surfside offices. She will also support other Corcoran offices across Florida, including locations in Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, Delray Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Hobe Sound, 30A, St. Petersburg, Sarasota, and Panama City.
This appointment comes amid recent changes in South Florida real estate leadership following the merger between Compass and Anywhere Real Estate. Last month saw Jeff Polashuk leave his role as Compass’ regional vice president for Florida to join Gideon Strategic Partners.
Saewitz began her career by founding M Realty in 2003 before selling it in 2007. She then joined One Sotheby’s International Realty and later became a founding agent at Compass’ Miami office in 2015. Over ten years at Compass, she advanced to principal broker of Florida and served as national head representative of brokers. She left Compass last year to become senior vice president of operations at Aperture Global Real Estate before being approached by Pam Liebman this winter.
“When you get a call from Pam Liebman, it’s sort of a career-defining moment,” Saewitz said. “She’s someone you don’t say no to.”
Saewitz said her focus will be on agent experience and support in her new position. She added that she hopes to quickly grow the firm’s agent base across the state: “I’d love to see Corcoran double agent count in a year,” she said. Regarding expansion into new markets, Saewitz said it would depend on where leadership sees opportunity but added, “I have a lot of dream-bigs.”
