Duke Energy announced on Apr. 7 that it will donate $1,000 to its Share the Light Fund agencies every time the Tampa Bay Rays win a regular-season game throughout the 2026 baseball season.

The initiative aims to provide financial support to Florida customers facing hardships with their energy bills. The company said this commitment follows last season’s effort, which resulted in an $82,000 donation after the Rays’ victories during the 2025 season.

According to Duke Energy, the Share the Light Fund is supported by employees, retirees, customers and shareholders. These contributions are matched annually by Duke Energy Foundation up to $500,000. Since its inception, nearly $30.5 million has been distributed in Florida through various assistance programs benefiting almost 31,000 customers.

“We are always looking for ways to support our customers, and partnerships with organizations like the Tampa Bay Rays give a great opportunity to reach more families in need,” said Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president. “Each season we look forward to cheering on the Rays while giving back to the community we serve.”

Donations collected by Share the Light Fund are distributed monthly across social service agencies within Duke Energy Florida’s 35-county service area. The company also offers tools such as Usage Alerts and other bill management resources designed to help customers monitor their energy use and manage costs before receiving their bills.

Duke Energy Florida serves approximately two million residential, commercial and industrial customers across a 13,000-square-mile area in Florida with a total energy capacity of 12,500 megawatts.
