A recent statewide poll conducted by the Florida Chamber of Commerce shows that local businesses continue to enjoy strong support among Floridians, and trust in business remains high. The survey, carried out by Cherry Communications between August 13 and 24, 2025, included 600 likely voters across party lines and has a margin of error of plus or minus four percent.

Support for lawsuit abuse reform passed in 2023 remains robust. Only 11% of respondents believe the reforms went too far, while more than three times as many support additional measures to reduce frivolous litigation. This sentiment is consistent across all races, genders, and political affiliations. The reforms have coincided with signs of stabilization in Florida’s homeowners and auto insurance markets as increased private sector competition provides consumers with more choices and puts downward pressure on rates.

The poll also found skepticism toward personal injury trial lawyers who advertise on billboards and television. “Only 11% of voters polled believe the personal injury trial lawyers who advertise on billboards and television are more interested in protecting the rights of people, while 74% say they are more interested in making money, including 83% of Republicans and 71% of NPA’s.”

Regarding recreational marijuana legalization, support continues to fall short of the required threshold for passage. “The Florida Chamber’s poll also found fewer Florida voters support legalizing recreational marijuana (55%), than a similar recreational marijuana legalization effort achieved at the ballot box in November (56%). This is the seventh consecutive poll from the Florida Chamber indicating this potential amendment remains short of the 60% threshold required for passage.” Despite over $150 million spent to promote legalization during the 2024 election—most from Florida’s largest medicinal marijuana provider—polling suggests that increased voter awareness has not translated into greater support.

Healthcare affordability was another topic addressed by the poll. Support for extending enhanced premium tax credits—which help offset healthcare premium costs set to expire at year-end—was broad-based. “When likely voters were asked about their likelihood to support the re-election of their federal lawmaker if they voted to extend enhanced premium tax credits that help with healthcare premium costs and are set to expire at the end of the year, the response was that they were overwhelmingly likely to back supportive lawmakers’ re-election.” This sentiment held true across all demographics and party affiliations.

Floridians remain divided on artificial intelligence (AI). According to survey results, impressions were nearly split: “When asked their impressions of artificial intelligence, 37% of Floridians responded with a favorable impression and 38% gave an unfavorable impression.” The divide crosses party lines.

Looking ahead to upcoming elections, Republicans maintain a lead over Democrats among likely voters for 2026—48% indicated they would vote Republican compared to 41% Democratic. Republicans have also expanded their registration advantage since previous polls. As reported by ChamberHub data as of July 31, 2025, there are now approximately 1.3 million more registered Republicans than Democrats statewide—a lead accounting for almost ten percent of all registered voters.

The Florida Chamber plans ongoing efforts through its various political organizations—including candidate recruitment and voter education—as part of preparations for future elections.
