The Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) is set to begin a technical hearing on Monday, October 6, 2025, regarding Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) request for a base rate increase. The session will take place at the Betty Easley Conference Center in Tallahassee, starting at 9:30 a.m.

According to the FPSC, this hearing gives FPL and intervenors the opportunity to present sworn testimony and exhibits supporting their respective positions. FPL submitted its petition for the rate hike on February 28, 2025.

To gather input from customers before the hearing, the Commission organized ten service hearings across May and June of this year—three held virtually and seven conducted in person. These sessions allowed FPL customers to comment on both service quality and the proposed rate changes. FPL currently serves about six million customer accounts throughout Northwest and peninsular Florida.

A live broadcast of Monday’s hearing will be available online by clicking “Watch Live and Archived PSC Events.” The Florida Channel may also cover the proceedings; viewers are advised to check local listings.
