The 2025 IAM International President’s Classic golf tournament raised over $150,000 to support the Maine Museum of Innovation, Learning and Labor (Maine MILL). The event took place at Fox Ridge Golf Club in Auburn, Maine, and brought together members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), labor allies, and supporters from across North America.
The funds will be used for the rehabilitation of Maine MILL’s former Camden Yarns Mill and an addition that will serve as the museum’s permanent home. Construction has already started on the new facility in Lewiston, which is expected to open in summer 2026. The museum aims to preserve stories of workers, immigrants, and communities connected to Maine’s mills.
“This event is about honoring the history of working people and giving back to the communities that raised us,” said IAM International President Brian Bryant. “Supporting Maine MILL means preserving the stories of the working class. As someone who grew up in Maine, this cause is close to my heart, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we accomplished together.”
Participants included dozens of teams who competed in golf while also taking part in raffles and giveaways. The event featured remarks from both IAM Union leaders and representatives from Maine MILL.
Rachel Ferrante, Executive Director of the Maine MILL, commented on the impact: “This incredible show of support from International President Bryant and the IAM Union will help us continue preserving and celebrating the legacy of Maine’s workers. We’re so grateful to everyone who participated and donated. Your generosity is making history.”
The new museum will include space for a permanent collection as well as temporary galleries, a classroom, children’s area, and design lab. Organizers hope it will become a cultural hub that promotes curiosity, lifelong learning, and community unity.
More than 50 organizations sponsored holes at this year’s tournament. Top sponsors included several IAM offices such as its International President’s Office; Eastern Territory; District 4; Local S6; Jones Granger Law Firm; Employee Benefit Systems Inc.; along with silver sponsors like IAM Canadian Territory; Air Transport Territory; Southern Territory; Midwest Territory; Western Territory; Rail Division; Local 4; District 142; National Group Protection; American Income Life; Met Life Investment Management; The Kelly Companies.
