Fifteen members, staff, and activists of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) participated in an advanced Organizing III training program at the Winpisinger Center in late March.

The training is designed to help IAM representatives improve their communication skills so they can teach organizing strategies within their local unions. This focus on skill development aims to strengthen organizing efforts across various industries represented by IAM.

According to a video report released by the union, participants from air transport, aerospace, and automotive sectors worked together during the week-long session. They practiced different teaching techniques and explored learning styles that can be used when leading organizing committees.

The course prepares members to guide others in forming effective organizing committees. By doing so, IAM hopes to support the long-term growth and strength of the labor movement.

Organizers say these programs are part of ongoing efforts to ensure that union leaders have up-to-date tools for supporting workers in changing industries.
