Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens announced on April 17 the release of its new official mobile app, now available for free download on the Apple App Store and Google Play. The app is designed to provide guests with real-time tools to navigate the zoo, access updates, order food, and purchase tickets directly from their smartphones.

The launch aims to improve the overall guest experience by making visits more convenient and interactive. Features include an interactive map, daily animal encounter schedules, educational talk updates, ticket purchasing options, food ordering capabilities, and membership sign-ups.

Nikki Smith, Chief Philanthropy and Marketing Officer at Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens said: “Our goal is to create a seamless and engaging experience for every guest who walks through our gates. This new app puts everything you need to explore Jacksonville Zoo and Botanical Gardens right at your fingertips, allowing guests to spend less time planning and more time connecting with wildlife and nature.”

The introduction of the mobile app follows recent developments at the zoo such as the opening of the J. Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver Manatee River habitat as well as an immersive VyStar SkyScape entrance. These initiatives are part of a broader effort known as REZOOVENATION that seeks to enhance visitor engagement.

Founded in 1914 with just one red deer fawn in its collection, Jacksonville Zoo now houses over 2,000 rare animals along with more than 1,000 plant species. It operates as a nonprofit organization supporting over 35 conservation projects globally and locally in Northeast Florida. The zoo is accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
