Sergio Pino’s widow, Tatiana Pino, and their daughters have filed a lawsuit in Miami-Dade Circuit Court against Nancy Pastor, Sergio’s longtime girlfriend, and others. The suit alleges that property transfers involving Century Midtown in Doral were fraudulent and took place around the time of Pino’s death in July 2024.

Sergio Pino was a well-known South Florida homebuilder who founded Century Homebuilders Group. He died by suicide as FBI agents were preparing to raid his Coral Gables home and arrest him on charges related to an alleged attempt to murder his wife through poisoning and hiring hitmen. At the time of his death, he and Tatiana Pino were undergoing a contentious divorce.

The lawsuit centers on trust and lease documents concerning Century Midtown—a mixed-use development featuring condos, apartments, and a clubhouse. These documents were created or amended by attorney Eugenio Duarte in March and July 2024. Plaintiffs claim these documents are invalid and designed to benefit Pastor.

“In July 2024 as Sergio Pino’s multi-year efforts to kill Tatiana, his joint partner/owner by the entireties of CHG, failed, and with the FBI and the police closing in, certain documents related to the collateralized clubhouse were purportedly executed by Sergio without the consent of the bank, his project partners, Tatiana, or those he sought to transfer control to all of his interests in Century Fitness and the Clubhouse, among other things,” according to the complaint.

“These efforts were criminal, fraudulent, intentional and otherwise wrongful,” the lawsuit states.

Pastor’s attorney Michael Schlesinger responded: “successful efforts in the sales and management of Sergio Pino projects led to Mr. Pino and his companies profiting by millions” adding that Pastor was placed in management roles because of her experience. He also said: “To set the record straight, for over the past decade that Ms. Pastor was affiliated with Mr. Pino’s businesses and ventures, she never witnessed Ms. [Tatiana] Pino involved in any business transaction until she took over after his untimely death. Ms. Pastor has never done anything illegal and has always been ethical and transparent in all Estate matters.”

According to court filings cited in the complaint, one trust document dated March 11 actually originated on March 13—the same period when federal authorities became aware of Sergio Pino’s alleged plot against Tatiana Pino.

Another trust was dated July 15—one day before Sergio’s death.

The complaint states that Joseline Pereira (Century Homebuilders’ former CFO) instructed Duarte to prepare a 99-year lease for Century Midtown’s clubhouse. In an email included as evidence Duarte warned: “Each transfer, assignment, appointment etc., can potentially alter the relationship with third parties (or even require consent)… I do not want to question any decisions but I am concerned that some of these changes are not needed… they may bring detrimental consequences.”

Duarte did not respond immediately for comment.

Ownership disputes over properties at 2038, 8075 and 8175 Northwest 107th Avenue have complicated attempts to sell or refinance Century Town Center. The complaint claims CBRE was retained to find lenders or buyers but could not secure refinancing since third-party lenders would not accept current partners as guarantors; this situation could force a sale or recapitalization with new partners.
