Major League Baseball pitcher Max Scherzer and his wife, Erica, have put their custom-built home in Jupiter, Florida, on the market for $36 million. The property is located in Admiral’s Cove, a gated community known for its waterfront homes.
Holly Meyer Lucas, Kimberly Thomson, and Courtney Payne of Compass are handling the listing. The couple bought the site at 217 Commodore Drive for $14.9 million in 2023. It is near another waterfront property they purchased for $9.8 million in 2020.
The home is still under construction but is expected to be finished by next winter. Features include five bedrooms, eight and a half bathrooms, and 325 feet of wraparound frontage on the Intracoastal Waterway. The lot measures 0.7 acres and includes a new seawall, dock that can accommodate an 88-foot boat, infinity pool, summer kitchen with pizza oven, guest apartment, and a five-car garage. Krista Watterworth Alterman of Krista + Home designed the interiors.
The decision to sell came after the Scherzers visited Atlantic Fields in Hobe Sound, a development by Discovery Land Company. According to a source cited by the New York Post, their interest was influenced by their appreciation for acreage similar to what they had when living in Old Brookville on Long Island.
Scherzer has won two World Series titles and has career earnings of $345 million. He ended last season as a free agent after playing for the Toronto Blue Jays with a 5.19 ERA. In an interview with The Athletic he said he “is healthy and ready to sign at any moment if certain teams call.”
Previously, while playing for the New York Mets under a $130 million contract signed in 2021, Scherzer and his wife bought a house on nearly four acres in Old Brookville for $5 million.
“Is healthy and ready to sign at any moment if certain teams call,” Scherzer told The Athletic.
Their experience with that Long Island property contributed to their decision to pursue a new home in Hobe Sound.
