Major League Baseball pitcher Max Scherzer sold an under-construction mansion in Jupiter’s Admirals Cove neighborhood for $23 million, according to an April 17 announcement. The property at 217 Commodore Drive was purchased by Thomas and Kimberly Abrams of Northville, Michigan. The listing was managed by Holly Meyer Lucas, Kimberly Thomson, and Courtney Payne with Compass, while Rob Thomson with Waterfront Properties and Club Communities represented the buyers.
Scherzer is known for helping the Toronto Blue Jays reach the World Series last year. He has previously played for teams including the Detroit Tigers and Washington Nationals since his league debut in 2008.
Scherzer and his wife Erica originally bought the Commodore Drive property in 2023 for $14.9 million. The lot covers about 0.7 acres with approximately 300 feet of waterfront. Once completed, records show that the home will be nearly 10,000 square feet in size. Including a construction contract as part of the deal brings its total value to $35 million; it was initially listed at $36 million in February.
The Scherzers’ primary residence is across the street from this property—a waterfront mansion they acquired for $9.8 million in 2020.
The couple chose to sell after visiting Discovery Land Company’s planned Atlantic Fields community in Hobe Sound.
Buyers Thomas and Kimberly Abrams also own another home within Admirals Cove—a non-waterfront house on Victory Drive purchased for $3.9 million in 2021. Thomas Abrams leads Reliable Carriers, a specialty car transport company based in Canton, Michigan that delivers luxury vehicles across various events and locations.
Admirals Cove remains popular among luxury real estate buyers; last year seed magnate Ronald Holden sold a waterfront estate there for a record-setting $34 million.
