A gym and wellness club based in Los Angeles will expand to Miami Beach with its first location outside California. Monarch Athletic Club has signed a lease for 8,000 square feet at The Rivani building, located at 1691 Michigan Avenue in South Beach. According to the landlord’s announcement, the facility is expected to open next year.
Monarch Athletic Club was co-founded by Dr. Ryan M. Greene and Paul Freschi. The club provides members with medical evaluations and quarterly follow-ups, as well as physical therapy, strength and nutrition assessments. Other services include IV therapy, hormone and peptide optimization, ice baths, and infrared saunas. Staff at Monarch includes physicians, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, nutritionists, and strength coaches.
The landlord of The Rivani building is Robert Rivani. His company moved from Los Angeles to Miami in 2022 and is currently working on a $40 million renovation of the seven-story property. Rivani refers to the upgraded property as “Class X” after renovations are complete.
The renovations at The Rivani are set for completion next year.
In August this year, it was announced that PLBY Group—the parent company of Playboy—will relocate its headquarters from Los Angeles to The Rivani building in South Beach. PLBY Group has leased 20,000 square feet at the site for its 250-employee office move planned for next year.
Elsewhere in Miami-Dade County, Kimco Realty added two new tenants at Palms at Town and Country shopping center in Kendall. Starbucks recently opened a 3,700-square-foot coffee shop there in a space previously occupied by Burger King. Barnes & Noble will also open a bookstore exceeding 20,000 square feet with an in-store café this week in the former Forever 21 unit.
Kimco Realty owns Palms at Town and Country on an 80-acre site near Southwest 88th Street and the Florida Turnpike in unincorporated Miami-Dade County.
Citizens Financial Group is opening Citizens Private Bank this Thursday at 400 Royal Palm Way in Palm Beach. Led by CEO Bruce Van Saun, Citizens Financial Group reported about $218 billion in assets under management as of the end of June this year. Public records indicate that Thomas C. Quick’s First Palm Beach Property entity co-owns the Palm Beach building where Citizens Private Bank will operate.
Jrk!, a Jamaican restaurant brand led by Kavan Burke with chef Wayne Sharpe overseeing culinary operations, plans to open a new location next month inside Dadeland Mall—a property owned by Simon Property Group of Indianapolis—marking its third outpost within Miami-Dade County. Jrk! will also launch a concession stand at Kaseya Center downtown before basketball season starts; other locations include downtown Miami (95 Northwest First Street) and Aventura Mall.
