According to recent data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, individuals with an associate degree have a job outlook that is 12 percent higher than average and earn a median salary exceeding $80,000 annually.

Brittany William, professor of Respiratory Care and Director of Clinical Education at Santa Fe College, said: “COVID-19 placed the importance of respiratory therapists in the spotlight, and it hasn’t left since. Our profession is responsible for helping people, from the beginning to end of their lives, do something vital — breathe. Opportunities exist to work with patients of all ages, walks of life, and illnesses. Our jobs take us to hospitals, clinics, and doctors’ offices just to name a few. Since breathing is vital to life, we will always have job security and will continue to serve the people of Alachua County and beyond.”
