Carolyn, a media specialist at Allen D. Nease High School in St. Johns County, has been named the recipient of the 2026 Florida Education Association (FEA) Teaching Excellence Award. The award recognizes her commitment to ensuring that every student at her school has access to resources and support.

With 31 years of experience in Florida public schools, Carolyn has served as a School Librarian/Media Specialist for 19 years and as a classroom teacher for 12 years. She has been recognized by the Florida Power Library Schools program for her management of library resources and works closely with teachers, administrators, and technology staff to keep the library accessible to students.

“It is our unique privilege to be able to honor an educator like Carolyn,” said Kate Dowdie, President of St. Johns Education Association. “Carolyn is a professional who is committed and determined to her students. Each day she shows up for them and for her community. We are so proud that she was selected for the honor of FEA’s teaching excellence award.”

As part of this recognition, Carolyn will represent Florida at the NEA Foundation’s Excellence in Education Gala in 2026.
