David MacNeil, the billionaire founder of WeatherTech, sold a 3.6-acre oceanfront property in Manalapan for $105 million, according to an April 16 announcement. The transaction sets a new record for land sales in the Palm Beach County town.
The sale highlights growing interest among wealthy buyers in Manalapan, which has become popular for its large estates offering both beach and Intracoastal Waterway access. This feature is rare in neighboring Palm Beach.
MacNeil’s company, Whiskey Tango 1120 LLC, sold the property at 1120 South Ocean Boulevard to HSH-Sunshine Revocable Trust. Margit Brandt of Premier Estate Properties listed the property while Lawrence Moens of Lawrence A. Moens Associates represented the buyer. The buyer was also represented by Mansfield, Bronstein & Stone and Frisch & Frisch law firms.
Although this is a record land deal for Manalapan, it does not surpass the overall price record set when Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison bought a larger estate in town for $173 million in 2022.
MacNeil has been active in South Florida’s luxury real estate market recently. Earlier this week he sold a waterfront mansion in Fort Lauderdale for $34 million and bought another Manalapan estate earlier this year for $68.3 million. He acquired the assemblage at 1120 South Ocean Boulevard through two purchases totaling $94 million over two years; combined, these lots have more than 340 feet of direct ocean frontage.
MacNeil founded WeatherTech in 1989 and is reported by Forbes to have an estimated net worth of $4 billion along with an extensive car collection valued at about $400 million. He has also donated at least $3 million to President Donald Trump since 2016 and was named chair of the Federal Trade Commission by Trump earlier this year; his appointment awaits confirmation.
